THE ISSUE
Inequities in STEM education and employment are pervasive, with low-income and racialized youth disproportionately impacted by multiple and complex systemic barriers at every stage of their educational journey.
These inequities lead to lower academic achievement, graduation rates, and post-secondary participation, ultimately resulting in underrepresentation in STEM fields.
OUR STRATEGY
Our strategy focuses on providing transformational, wrap-around and community-based engagement for youth throughout their STEM educational journey at critical stages of their development.
The majority of our programming occurs outside of school hours directly within communities and classrooms through robust partnerships with social housing agencies, community-based organizations, and local schools.
Engaging the STEM Ecosystem
We recognize that STEM learning happens in a variety of contexts and that addressing inequities in STEM education requires a coordinated effort from multiple stakeholders. This approach involves engaging with a range of stakeholders, including youth, families, partners, educators, and communities, to create a network of resources and opportunities that support STEM learning and career exploration.
Creating equitable access to STEM Pathways
Our “STEM Pathways” model provides focused engagement and support for youth at critical stages of their development.
